The Security+ exam is changing. If you are planning your certification, that can make you wonder whether the studying you have already done still counts.
Here is the good news: you have time. CompTIA launches the new exam version, SY0-801, on November 17, 2026, and keeps the current version, SY0-701, available until June 11, 2027 (English). If you are studying now and plan to test well before then, you do not need to change your plan.
- Studying now? Keep going, and book your exam with a buffer in case you need a retake.
- Test date in May 2027 or later? That is when to look at the new version.
