What Makes the CISSP Exam Challenging?
The CISSP exam is broad. It covers eight domains, from security and risk management to software development security, and it uses computerized adaptive testing: 100 to 150 items in up to three hours, with multiple-choice and advanced item types. You need a score of 700 out of 1,000 to pass.

Are there live CISSP classes online, and how do they work?
Yes. Our CISSP online training is a live, instructor-led course delivered by an expert instructor via webinar, Monday through Friday over five days. It offers the same curriculum as our face-to-face classes, from your home or office.
Is CISSP certification for entry-level cybersecurity?
No. Full CISSP certification requires five years of cumulative, full-time experience in two or more of the eight CISSP domains. A relevant four-year degree or an approved ISC2 credential can satisfy up to one of those years. Part-time work and internships may also count toward the requirement.
Can I take the CISSP exam without the full experience?
Yes. If you pass the exam without the required experience, you become an Associate of ISC2. You then have six years to earn the five years of experience required for full CISSP certification.
What is the passing score for the CISSP exam?
You need a score of at least 700 out of a possible 1,000 points. The exam is computerized adaptive, with 100 to 150 items and a three-hour time limit, and it is taken at a Pearson VUE testing center.
How much does the online CISSP Boot Camp cost?
Tuition for the 5-day CISSP Boot Camp Online is $3,599 and is shown with each class in the schedule above. The ISC2 exam fee is separate. ISC2 lists the CISSP exam at $749 on its CISSP page.
What if I do not pass the exam the first time?
ISC2 sets the retake rules. After a first attempt you may retest after 30 test-free days, after a second attempt after 60 test-free days, and after a third and later attempts after 90 test-free days. You may attempt the exam up to four times within a 12-month period. See ISC2's retake policy.
What happens after I pass the exam?
After you pass, you complete ISC2's endorsement process. An ISC2-certified professional in good standing endorses your application to confirm your work experience, and if you do not know one, ISC2 can act as your endorser. Once your application is approved you pay your first annual maintenance fee to begin your membership cycle.
How do I keep my CISSP certification active?
CISSP holders earn 120 continuing professional education (CPE) credits in each three-year certification cycle and pay an annual maintenance fee to ISC2. See ISC2's CISSP page and its CPE handbook for current details.
